Oh shit…

It has actually been a LOT longer than I thought since the last time I made a post.

Here’s the obligatory post to get out of the “I haven’t posted anything in a bajillion years!” funk!

My summer so far has had its ups(ME trilogy) and its downs(to be ‘explained’ further down).  All in all, a promising summer thus far.  I hope everyone else is enjoying their summer too!

After this post, I am hoping to whip out the posts for all of the ME games and also at least one about some anime movies that I watched.  I haven’t decided yet if I want to write about the both of them together or if I should write about them separately…meh, it’ll get here when it gets here.  OH!  But before that, I have to read through all of the blog posts and stuff that I need to catch up with.  Dammit, and I know I saw some interesting stuff in there too!  Pretty sure I saw E3 in there…had to fucking restrain myself from reading it because I was halfway through ME2 and lord knows I didn’t need to go off on another path altogether!  Haha, but now I am ready!

Anyway, that has been my summer so far and what I hope to be doing soon in a teeny tiny nutshell.  Now, before I end this refresher post, I would like to leave you all with 3 pictures that slightly, and I mean slightly, clue you in on the shit that went down this summer.  I am still so fucking pissed, but I’ve cooled down enough that I know better than to go bitching around about the details over a matter that is honestly so fucking small it is utterly ridiculous.  I feel really stupid sometimes that we are making such a fuss over it, but there is only so much BS we’re willing to deal with.  Yes, we’re young, but we aren’t stupid.  Also, don’t feel bad if you can’t come up with a logical explanation as to what these three things have to do with one another.  We STILL don’t know.

And let me tell you, damage is not what connects these things.

Singing Seiyuu

, , , , , , , , ,

Yeah, yeah, I know I said that I would be busy with Mass Effect, which I am, but even I need to take a break from it.  Unfortunately for me, I found something else to obsess over during one of these breaks.  I am actually writing this post up for the sake of this new obsession.  So, without further ado:

That was a character song for Archer of Fate/Stay Night sung by his seiyuu(voice actor) Junichi Suwabe.

Singing seiyuu aren’t new to me and I think nowadays having the seiyuu sing songs from or pertaining to the anime is a rather popular thing to do.  I just wanted to point out that usually whenever I find these songs, I usually have a problem.  A BIG problem involving the word REPEAT.

Here are some other examples of songs sung by seiyuu that I love.

This last one is actually sung by four seiyuu at once.  If I remember correctly, I think they had a small band-type thing going on the side.

Even though I realize that these people work with their voices for a living, it still amazes me how well some of them can sing!  Has anyone else come across any songs sung by seiyuu that they have just wanted to play over and over again?

Summer…There it went!

, , , , ,

Everyone loves Summer.

Remember all of these reactions when Summer arrived?

Oh yeah, you know you do.

I went through all of those things too and I just wanted you all to know…that time has ended.  For the rest of the Summer, I will be freely giving away my soul to the Mass Effect trilogy.

What I did every time I saw an ME 3 game.

Because of this, my Summer will be very dark and sunless.  I will also be traipsing through a number of different scenarios, which are expertly rendered in the following memes.

Ahahaha…oh god.  It is going to be a long ass Summer.

I’m also going to be doing Camp NaNoWriMo, but that’s really just a tiny blip on the radar compared to Mass Effect.

So, that’s all I wanted you guys to know.  If you don’t hear from me for a while, it’s because I am either still playing ME or…I am still playing ME.

See you all at the end of my journey!

Take Care of Them

, , , , ,

I don’t like kids.

I don’t like their crying or their whining or their love of running really close to the street.

Crying Baby. Nobody likes this. Admit it.

And yet, I can’t help but love them.  Once you put the crying and whatnot to one side, kids are usually really sweet and they are some of the funniest people around.  I think loving children is something that every human being can understand on some level because it is in our nature to want to create offspring and to protect them.

Which is why I cannot, for the love of god, understand why in the HELL anyone would put their own children in dangerous situations that are easily avoidable!

Take for instance when earlier this week I went out shopping with the BF.  We were walking back to our car and I glanced over to the car parked next to us and I saw a little girl sitting in the backseat.  She was about maybe 5.  I was mildly irritated by it since she was so young, but whatever.  Then I reached the passenger side door and saw this black shape in the backseat next to the little girl.  I already had a feeling as to what it was, but I still couldn’t believe it.  It was a fucking BABY!  Someone had left their little baby in the fucking car!

I have mixed feelings when it comes to leaving kids in the car.  Personally, I would leave my child in the car under three conditions: 1) They are old enough to scream, 2) They listen when I tell them to keep the fucking door locked and not to mess with the window, and 3) They are at least in their teens.  If one of those conditions are not met, I am dragging their butts around whether they like it or not.  Even if I didn’t have those kinds of conditions, I still think that NO ONE in their right mind should be leaving their little baby IN THEIR CAR.  I don’t give a shit if their other kid is there too.  I also don’t give a rat’s ass if your shopping trip will take 10 minutes.  You decided to have kids, you should start learning how to live life WITH kids.

And as if that weren’t bad enough, a couple of days later I saw another thing I absolutely could not believe.  I saw a woman who was heavily pregnant walking around with a suitcase while SMOKING.  In this day and age,  I thought people were smart enough to know about the simple equation called SMOKING=DEATH.  Apparently not.  There’s just no fucking words for this soon to be mother.  I also have no idea what in the hell she was doing because an hour later I saw her STILL walking and smoking!  Was she trying to force the baby out or something?  Did smoking suddenly become healthy for developing fetuses?  Argh, so irritating!

It is really hard to believe how many people there are out there who can’t have kids of their own and yet these idiots are blessed with them!  How hard is it to stop thinking about yourselves and instead focusing your attention on your children?  It really cannot be that difficult, can it?

Why do I even bother?

WARNING:  This post is a mire of random, utterly useless information.  Wonderfully insightful revelations are NOT within.  Also, I am using this post as an excuse to use gifs and memes that I like.  Finally, there be YAOI within…well, SHOUNEN-AI, rather, but you get the point.  If none of that stopped you…congratulations? This Can’t Be The End!

, , , ,

A couple of days ago while wandering around blogs, I came across someone mentioning a manga called Arisa by Natsumi Ando.  I don’t want to go too in depth about Arisa right now because technically it has nothing to do with this post other than that events occurring while reading Arisa inspired me to write this.  What events you ask?  One word: CLIFFHANGER!

Cliffhangers are definitely something that everyone should have come across at some point in their life.  For people who enjoy anime and manga, we might come across cliffhangers a lot more than most simply due to the fact that anime and manga come out in installments.  Now, I don’t know about you guys, but cliffhangers annoy me to the point where I usually have this face going on:

I encountered one of these moments while reading Arisa and let me tell you, it was that moment, the one you KNOW is coming, but when it happens, NO MORE MANGA TO READ!  Then the face happened and yeah, well, the rest is history.  After my face calmed down, I ruminated for a bit about the annoyance of cliffhangers and then I realized that there is something worse than cliffhangers!  That is…WHR, which is short for Where the Hell is the Rest?!

Now, WHR can result from a lot of things because as much as I want to hope that the authors of fantastic stories have no lives and do nothing but pen more awesomeness, that is not the case.  I don’t know how common hiatuses are in terms of actual published material, but I have had one encounter with it and I am still irritated by it.

Everyone, say hello to Ragnarok, a manhwa by Myung-Jin Lee!  The man in the picture is the main character for this story and his name is Chaos.  He is a very strong warrior who lacks memories of the past two years.  As you probably guessed, Ragnarok follows Chaos’ journey as his past is slowly revealed and as he goes along he picks up his own merry band of friends.  In a very brief plot summary like this one, Ragnarok really doesn’t seem to be anything special, but it is.

The artwork in Ragnarok is phenomenal!  It is hands down some of the best artwork I have seen in terms of manhwa/manga format!  Every page is so full of detail and textures that it really makes you wonder why more people can’t flesh out their artwork this well.  If I were to be honest, I would have to say that the art in Ragnarok is better than some of the artwork I have seen that were made specifically to be published in an art book compilation.

While the art is something to be dazzled by, the story itself is definitely not going to be outdone by it.  Ragnarok is, unsurprisingly, based off of Norse mythology.  Based off of the manhwa’s name, I figured that out easily, so I was expecting it, but I wasn’t expecting the sheer amount of Norse mythology references buried within it.  I was expecting someone with the name Odin and maybe a mention or two of Loki, but Ragnarok really went all out.  Not only did it have Odin and Loki, it also had Valkyries, Freya, Jotunheim, Midgard, Asgard, Fenrir, and Yggdrasil to name a few and most of them were pretty true to the originals in Norse mythology, so they didn’t just get the name Fenrir and thus were cool.  This little tidbit may not mean much to most people, but to someone like me who loves mythology, it was enough to make me love this manhwa even more!

Unfortunately, Ragnarok is still on hiatus and has been in that state for…at least 6 years.  There are currently 10 volumes and according to Wikipedia, Ragnarok is supposed to have 40+ volumes.  Suffice it to say, I have no hopes of this series going out of its hiatus state because honestly, 6 years, probably more, is a hell of a long break and with the sheer scale of detail and story that lies within Ragnarok, I think it is going to be hard for Myung-Jin Lee to get back into the swing of things.  Unless, he has the plot all nicely written out…haha, well, I can dream.

Even though Ragnarok is currently not being updated, I would still highly recommend it to anyone!  It is a beautiful piece of work, both in art and story.  Be warned though, big breasts are…revered in this manhwa.

Also, has anyone ever encountered this happening to them, that something they really wanted to finish just…stopped?  I’m curious!

So…here it is finally!  The 11 questions from both simpleek and soaringwings!  It only took ages!  Thanks again to the two of them for letting me answer their questions even though I asked so late!  I just really love doing things like this(the answering, not the tagging).  But that actually reminds me, if anyone who reads this knows of any interesting survey/questionnaire thingies like this, GIVE THEM TO ME!  That is all.  On to the real stuff!

Here are The Rules:

  1. You must post the rules.
  2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you’ve tagged.
  3. Tag eleven people and link to them on your post.
  4. Let them know you’ve tagged them! Continue reading

Bless Cute Guys!

, , , , , , , , ,

I’ll admit it.

I’m guilty.

I’m guilty of loving cute guys!  And handsome ones!  And charming ones!  And…well, the list can go on and on!

Recently, I came across this picture.

Within seconds, I was deep into Fangirl mode and scouring the internet for knowledge of the cute blue haired boy who is front and center.  At this point, I really didn’t care about his character or the story he was in.  I just wanted more pictures to ogle at that contained his adorable face!

Imagine my surprise when I found out that he is one of the main characters to a BASKETBALL manga of all things!  No, really, I was honestly shocked it was a basketball manga.  I mean, the numerous basketballs and jerseys in the picture were amazingly subtle!  How was I supposed to know?  His face was so damn distracting!

But the most surprising thing is…

I actually like it.

Hell, I might even say that I love it.

And it is a BASKETBALL manga!

As you probably might have already guessed, I hate sports.  In school, I hated PE with a passion.  It’s just really not my thing.  So why in the hell do I like this manga?!

Well, for starters, I guess I should give some info about this manga.  It’s called Kuroko no Basuke(Kuroko’s Basketball) and the blue haired guy happens to be this Kuroko.  It starts off with the beginning of the new school year at Seirin High School where students are recruiting freshman to join their clubs.  Out of the new freshman to join the basketball club, two stand out.  One is Taiga Kagami, a talented player recently returned from the States and the other is Tetsuya Kuroko, the “phantom” sixth player from the Generation of Miracles, a middle school basketball team who dominated the competition.

Now, the only other sports anime I am familiar with is Prince of Tennis, so I automatically compared it to that and in all honesty, it is a good way to describe exactly why I think Kuroko no Basuke is such a good manga.

If you’ve watched Prince of Tennis, then you know that Ryoma is a tennis prodigy.  He was already obscenely good from the start.  While he does grow and learn things along the way, he was always good.  In KnB however, this is not the case and that was shocking.  When I found out that Kuroko is this supposed “Phantom” player from something called the Generation of Miracles, I automatically assumed that he would be something fantastic.  Wow.  Wrong does not even begin to correctly define my thoughts.

Kuroko himself is, quite simply, horrible at basketball.  He can’t shoot, he can’t guard, he can’t even really dribble.  All he can really do is “misdirect” other players due to his lack of presence, which enables him to make unpredictable passes to other players on the team.  When I said that that was all he can do, that is really all he can do.  Unlike Ryoma, who shines on his own, Kuroko is a self-proclaimed ‘shadow.’  He is there to make the ‘light’ stronger and his chosen light is, of course, Taiga Kagami.  With just this one tiny detail, I was hooked.  Kuroko no Basuke isn’t a manga where the main character is overwhelmingly powerful from the start and goes on to make a name for himself.  It is a manga about a group of high school boys growing and learning and overcoming tremendous odds as a team right from the start.  That’s right, I said boyS.  KnB really focuses well on making sure that the reader knows that this is about a TEAM sport, not just talented individuals, and that really makes you want to cheer for them.  After reading KnB, I can now kind of better understand how it is that people can really come to love and admire a specific sports team!

Another thing I have to mention that drew me further into this manga was Kuroko himself.  Remember in the beginning when I called him cute?  Yeah well…he’s still cute, but…

This was the first time I saw him in the manga and he scared the shit out of me!  And it isn’t just me, he ends up scaring the shit out of pretty much everyone in the manga at one point or another due to his lack of presence.  He seemingly pops out of thin air and he has a usually emotionless face!  I haven’t found that in a main character in a manga in…well, ever, really.  It’s kind of nice in a…creepy “I’m going to kill you and you won’t even know it” kind of way.

So, here I am, about 2 days after this discovery and after having finished 129 chapters of the manga, and all I can think is bless cute guys because I probably never would have tried this manga otherwise!

EDIT…sort of:

If you’re like me and you are set to get email notifications when someone you follow makes a post and you got a notification for this post yesterday and it didn’t exist, sorry.  That was due to me spacing out and clicking publish instead of preview.  That led to me having a minor freak out about how to ‘take it back.’  Ah, the trials of the technologically inept.

The Search for Blogs

, ,

This post was actually inspired by the fact that simpleek nominated me for two different awards: The Liebster Blog Award and The Versatile Blogger Award!  I am honored and flattered to be nominated for these two awards and I would love to pass them on…but therein lies the problem.

See, I am assuming that when I pass these awards on to other bloggers, I can’t nominate the person who nominated me: simpleek.  Well, that really kind of sucks because if I can’t nominate simpleek, my list of people I would want to nominate just went from 2 bloggers to 1 blogger.  That blogger being soaringwings.  There’s also another blog I follow, but I would like to read more posts from them before I make any decisions.  So, at the end of the day, that would make it a whopping 3 blogs!  See my problem?  I DON’T READ ENOUGH GOOD ANIME/MANGA/VIDEO GAME BLOGS!!!

Now, it is most definitely not due to a lack of anime/manga/video game themed blogs.  Lord knows, there are a TON of them out there.  I just have problems with finding ones that I would actually be willing to read continuously.

In an effort to actually find more blogs to read, I somehow managed to find my way to this: The Aniblog Tourney.  Please don’t ask how I found it because I really don’t remember.  I did this while in the process of waking up and I am still amazed I was that coherent to pull it off.  Anyway, The Aniblog Tourney is pretty much just a bunch of anime and manga themed blogs battling it out to see who has the best blog of the bunch.  It also comes with a nifty little picture of the brackets and who is pitted against who.  Now, half asleep me decided it would be a good idea to go through EVERY. SINGLE. BLOG. on the tournament list.  Fucking god, this is why I should not meander away from the news sites and email when I am half asleep.  I tend to do shit that I would not dream of doing otherwise.

And maybe that is a good thing.

So far I have only conquered the blogs in the Green Bracket, but I have to say that those blogs alone gave me a good insight into what it is that I look for when it comes to choosing which blogs I want to follow.  I’m actually a lot pickier than I thought I would be.

1.  Got Episode by Episode Anime Reviews?  Bye!

This was the one that I already knew I had issues with.  It’s not that I hate episode reviews, I don’t.  I just hate it when that is all there is to a blog.  I enjoy spoilers, but not the in depth ones and if I wanted a summation of each episode, I go to Wikipedia.

2.  Just Reviews?  Give me more!

I also came across some blogs where every post ended with the word: Review.  At least these ones were for whole series rather than episodes.  I write reviews, but damn, I don’t want to be reading review after review after review where the most interesting thing about it is what number you gave it out of 10.  Seriously, 7.5 really was the most interesting thing about a post I read.

3.  Character

All of the blogs that I currently follow have this.  If I were to just get a post and have no idea where it came from, I could probably tell you whose blog it came from out of that list.  I am most attracted to blogs that contain posts that are both intelligent and well executed in explaining both the topic and the blogger’s viewpoint.  I like reading substance rather than just bland, mindless ‘I like this’ and ‘I like that’ and fangirl/boy drivel.  I know that I myself am not one to be talking since none of what I write can even compare to the stuff that I am reading, but it’s a learning experience and I learn something new, guaranteed, every time one of the bloggers I follow makes a post.

4.  Visuals

No pictures is not going to cut it for me.  I need some kind of visual whether it be pictures or scans or videos.  I need something.  If it doesn’t have something like that, the post itself has to be either pretty damn amazing or it has to be something where a visual really would not have fit.  This is one of the fastest ways for me to start deciding on whether or not I want to follow a blog.

5.  Layout

This is the last one and it is probably the weirdest one.  As long as I can read the blog without my eyes wanting to bleed, I am fine, but there is one particular layout that will make me REFUSE to read a blog.  This layout is the layout that one would find typically of a news blog or website, where it seems that everything is posted up moments after the information has been released.  I don’t know, but something about this type of thing just really rubs me the wrong way.  Thankfully, I have not yet encountered a blog with this layout that actually had fun stuff to read.

Oh well, while it is questionable as to whether or not I was in my right mind when I started this journey of going through all the blogs involved in the Aniblog Tourney, I am determined to finish it.  I’ve already found a couple of new blogs to follow through it and I am looking forward to what else I might find amongst the other contenders.

And…here’s something random because…I really need something other than words here and I could not think of a visual that would actually fit the post.  This is how my week was.
